I would like to start off by expressing my thanks to everyone who assisted with the Shamrock Gala. I understand that it was a wonderful event, led by Mrs. Hutchinson, Mrs. Italia, and Mrs. Mulligan. Many, many volunteers worked tirelessly for our children. I would also like to thank you, the SPS community, for your support of this event. The PTA commitment is essential to the operation of our school, and I thank you for everything that you have done to fulfill that commitment.
Last Friday, Mrs. Foley, assisted by her children, brought "Shamdunk" back to St. Paul School after a three year absence! We realized too late, that due to COVID, there were many students (and probably parents) who didn't know the tradition behind Shamdunk. We'll be sure to get the word out for next year! Foley Family, thank you for your efforts! This weekend marks the return of the Shamrock Gala. The PTA has worked so hard to make our largest fundraiser a success. If you have not yet fulfilled your PTA commitment, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Please see the flyer below in the "Shamrock" section. Raffle tickets are available for $20 a ticket to win $1,000 worth of gift cards. There is a link that says, "email Marina for tickets." I know how much work goes into this auction and I thank all of our families for your support that directly benefits our children.
Although the weather didn’t cooperate, it was a wonderful day for our 2nd graders and a few other SPS students who received their First Holy Eucharist on Saturday. It really was a beautiful ceremony! My thanks to Ms. Pirri, Mrs. D’Orlando, John McGuire, and our parents who helped prepare the children for this sacrament. The second graders were treated to a small snack on Monday after I read the book, “The Caterpillar That Came to Church.”
It has been quite an exciting week at SPS. We completed our second week of standardized testing and make-ups will be next week. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th traveled to Medieval Times. A great time was had by all! Friday is our traditional Kindergarten Mother’s Day Tea. The children are so excited!
Workshop Summary: Have you ever asked yourself, "Should my child be on social media? What do I need to know when I give my child a phone/device? What apps are out there that I should know?" Unlike our parents, we have tools and resources available to us. But how many of those are valuable and how many of them are scare tactics? How do we make sure those tools keep our values intact when online? In this entertaining session we'll find answers that Siri® and Alexa® can’t.
