Weekly Communication: Sept. 7, 2021

Dear Parents,

It certainly was quite an opening to school last week.  Never did I imagine that I would have to cancel school before Labor Day.  I know that the Princeton area was flooded, and I hope that if you were affected by the storm that your losses were manageable.

Today, being our first full day, I know that there were a lot of tired children going home.  It takes a while to get back into the routine.

The lunch menu is now posted on the website.  Please go to the “Parents” tab and click on the section for “lunch program” to find the link to the September menu.

Also, it has taken a little time to get the online gradebook up and running.  Many of you have asked about Parent Access.  We will notify you when Genesis and the Parent Portal is open.  Thank you for your patience.

Concerns have been brought to us about the use of masks outdoors on our playground areas at recess.  Our decisions are all made around COVID mitigation.

Today, Mrs. Rooney met with each recess group in grades 1 – 8.  They discussed mask use outdoors.  We will cautiously proceed with allowing students to remove their masks when outside for recess.  If a parent prefers their child to wear a mask outdoors, that is a family decision we will respect.

Nearly every 7^th and 8^th grade student is age eligible for the COVID vaccine.  Please send a copy of your child's COVID vaccine card to the nurse or an updated vaccine record indicating they have received the vaccine.  Thank you to those who have already done this.  If you’ve misplaced the card, you may access a vaccine record for a vaccine issued in NJ using the app "DOCKET".  Vaccination status is needed when making a decision about quarantine and if no card is received, it will be understood the student is unvaccinated for purposes of quarantine.

We were notified by the parish that Parish Fest, scheduled to happen this upcoming weekend, has been cancelled out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19. Consequently, our 7th and 8th grade dance will also be cancelled.  We certainly pray that things will change and we will be able to schedule future events.
