Today we welcomed the faculty back to St. Paul School. We are busy planning for the arrival of your children on Wednesday. We had a few teachers leave St. Paul School and I would like to thank them for their service. Mrs. Lendy Gayan who taught Upper School Math, and Mr. Russell Lorring who taught Math, Science, and Social Studies in Grade 4 have taken teaching positions at other schools. Mr. Lorring will stay on at SPS as our Athletic Director.
We have made the following changes to our procedures in school. Teachers will stay in their homerooms and the students will travel across the hall to change classes. We will practice social distancing. Students will be permitted to travel to the gymnasium and to the art room for those classes. Art will be held in the classroom for the Pre-K classes. We will be maintaining the cohorts while the children are outside at recess. Masks will be worn outside.
We are still discussing how lunches will be conducted. I will update you in the next few days.
Information on Travel Quarantines
The Town of Princeton continues to be in a public health situation where unvaccinated students and staff must quarantine after travel lasting 24 hours or longer outside of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York or Delaware. Unvaccinated staff and students must continue to follow the CDC guidelines which require 10 days of quarantine without testing or seven days of quarantine with a negative test taken on day 3-5 after travel. The CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated.
For those who are vaccinated, New Jersey residents returning home after travel do not need to quarantine but should still follow travel guidance from the CDC, the NJ Department of Health, and all local health and safety protocols. Here is more detailed travel information from the New Jersey Department of Health and from the CDC.
While SPS will provide remote learning within 24 hours of being notified of a student who must isolate or quarantine because of COVID-19 exposure there is no remote learning option for students who are doing travel quarantines.
Please note that the protocol is different for unvaccinated staff and students. Unvaccinated staff and students must continue to follow the CDC guidelines which require 10 days of quarantine without testing or seven days of quarantine with a negative test taken on day 3-5 after travel. The CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated. For those who are vaccinated, New Jersey residents returning home after domestic travel do not need to quarantine but should still follow travel guidance from the CDC the NJ Department of Health, and all local health and safety protocols.
Per the Governor’s mandate, we strongly discourage travel. We will not be providing remote instruction due to travel. Missed assignments can be accessed on Google Classroom.
Due to changes in arrival times and school cancellations, you will receive a message from me by our "School Messenger system." Your phone numbers and email addresses come directly from Genesis. Currently heavy rains are predicted for this area on Wedneday and Thursday.
Please check out our next communication featuring a letter from our school nurse, Ms. Palumbo.
I know that there is a lot of information to digest. Please reach out with any questions that you may have. We look forward to seeing the children on Wednesday!
