I hope that you are enjoying this last week of summer! Certainly, there are lots of items to address and we’ve waited as long as possible to get the health protocols ironed out before reaching out to you.
Last Wednesday, August 18th, the PTA hosted the annual new family picnic. It was held in the side yard of the school, and it was a wonderful night! New families and ambassador families, along with Fr. Miguel, Fr. Carlo, Deacon Frank, SPS Board members, and several Faculty members enjoyed the delicious food. I’d like to thank Mrs. Gayle Lundy and Mrs. Beth Sagarese (along with their husbands – you know how that works!) for all of their hard work. It was a nice start to the school season.
Earlier in the day and earlier this summer, the PTA uniform exchange committee, led by Ms. Chynoweth and assisted by Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Archbald, provided the opportunity for new and old families alike to update their uniforms. Thanks to Mrs. Zamirowski for all of her tireless work throughout the pandemic and for being a part of the transition to a new group. We can’t thank you enough!
The teachers “formally” return to school on Monday (8/30) and Tuesday (8/31) of next week. Many have already started to come into school to begin their preparations. We would like to welcome the new teachers and staff to the St. Paul School community. Mrs. Agnes Sung (SPS grad) will be teaching technology. Mrs. Colleen Chambers returns to SPS as our resource teacher. Ms. Mary Witterschein will be teaching art (her mother was once a 1st grade teacher at SPS). Mrs. Kristina Shealy will be teaching upper school math. Ms. Zeina Peterson (SPS grad) will be teaching 4th grade language arts and religion.
In addition to the new teachers, Ms. Kaitlynn White who taught grade 2 last year, will be moving to grade 4 teaching math, science, and social studies. We have also added a second PreK-4 class and that will be led by Ms. Stryker who taught kindergarten for part of last year. We also welcome Ms. Emely DeJesus as a teaching assistant in the PreK. Clearly, it has been a very busy summer!
Class lists were finalized today and were emailed to the homeroom teachers. You should be hearing from them via email by the end of this week.
On August 6, 2021, Governor Murphy issued
Executive Order 251, stating that all students, educators, and staff, will be required to wear face masks indoors for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. This is the same policy that we followed last year. We ask that you send your child to school with extra masks in case they get wet or dirty throughout the day.
Upon arriving to school, students are no longer required to have their temperatures checked and parents are no longer required to complete an electronic daily health questionnaire.
All students who arrive by bus will be dropped off in front of the school and will enter at the Nassau Street entrance.
Students who walk should proceed to the parking lot at the rear of the school where they will be directed to the proper entrance for their grade.
Drivers, please enter via the cemetery driveway accessed on Spruce Street. There will be teachers outside to direct you. Please pull up as far as possible. Students will be instructed when to exit the vehicle. If possible, ask your child/ren to exit on the passenger side of the vehicle. Parents should remain in their cars. Your child will then be directed or walked to their classroom.
When inside the building, students will report directly to homeroom.
Drop-off occurs from 7:30am-7:55am.
Morning prayers begin promptly at 8:00am and all students are expected to be in their homerooms.
Again this year, our students will stay in their cohort. In grades 3-8, students will move from class to class while maintaining rules for distancing. All students will move to the special subject classes. We will be utilizing outdoor spaces whenever possible.
If your child is going to be absent, all phone calls must be directed to our school nurse, Ms. Tish Palumbo. 609-921-3377 or email tpalumbo@spsprinceton.....
Additional information will be coming next week. We look forward to seeing your children on September 1st!
